This immersive summer cooking and learning experience will get kids thinking, creating, and developing new skills in the kitchen. Beginning with an icebreaker, kids will imagine whether they're more like a specific fruit or vegetable, and why that is. Allie will read aloud a children's book on summer cooking, and guide a discussion about the story to check for comprehension and explore several themes. After a quick movement break, the troop will put on their chef's hats, and, voila! It's time to cook!
Kids will have a chance to look through the teacher-made cookbook and choose which recipe they'd like to make. They'll measure out their own ingredients as Allie sneaks in some math practice with fractions and doubling the recipe. Everyone will enjoy their edible masterpiece during a closing circle where kids will discuss how the experience made them feel!
