Throughout this engaging series, students will learn tactics and techniques that will sharpen their minds and take their gameplay to new heights! They'll learn the fundamentals of the game of Chess, including the pieces, openings, end games, and strategies. Through interactive sessions and hands-on practice including games and friendly competitions, children will develop critical thinking skills, enhance their problem-solving abilities, and build strategic planning prowess on the chessboard.
Rasheed is a passionate student at San Jose State, not only pursuing Computer Science but also making a positive impact through teaching and coaching. Having played sports his whole life, upon sustaining an injury he realized how much he personally derived from teaching in addition to playing. He translated his background in professional soccer to coaching youth soccer, and also teaches and mentors children in various subjects including Chess, Sports, Movement, and STEM. Rasheed brings a unique blend of experience and enthusiasm to his classes with an adaptive teaching approach, meeting each child at their level.
