This experience will expose kids to the art of embroidery, allowing them to express themselves through paint and stitching, all while creating a everlasting and unique piece of art.
Kids will share ahead of time a personal photo or image of anything they like (person, animal, object) or a favorite cartoon character as inspiration for their piece for Teacher Jai to create an outline for them to use during the experience. Kicking off with a short introduction, kids will share the photo or character they chose and why. They'll pick colors for the background of the embroidered canvas and their embroidery threads. They'll get to see example works, and begin to paint the background of their canvas.
As the background paint dries, kids will learn how to thread their embroidery needles and practice back stitching. Once the canvas is ready, they'll embroider their image or character outline, and work together with Teacher Jai's guidance to complete their embroidered canvas. A truly special way for kids to try and discover a rare artform.
