Right now, the rangers who protect and interpret our national treasures are furloughed during the government shutdown. These dedicated educators are more than stewards of the forest, they’re storytellers, scientists, and mentors who usually spend much of their days inspiring kids.
With their work on pause, Grasshopper is partnering with furloughed National Park Service interpretive rangers from Muir Woods to bring their expertise directly into schools (while also providing them with meaningful, paid teaching opportunities during this difficult time).

Through interactive storytelling and exploration, children will discover the secrets of ancient Coast Redwood trees and the vital role they play in our ecosystem. This adventure nurtures a deeper appreciation for the environment and the stewardship of our treasured national parks. 🌿

Class Level Details

Parking Instructions

You may park in the parking lot in any empty space. Street parking is also available. Please follow the instructions on the parking signs.

Arrival Instructions

Sign in at the front office. You will receive a visitors badge. Please wear it at all times while on campus. You should have access to your room 5-10 minutes before class starts. The school staff will bring the students to your room.

Departure Instructions

Many parents/guardians will pick their student up directly from the classroom. Any leftover students can be taken to After Care. Check in with Stephanie, the After Care coordinator.
