Please arrive at least 10 minutes before your class starts (earlier if set-up or extra time parking is needed). Please give yourself enough time to sign-in at the front gate and check-in as a visitor. You will need to use the school’s VisitU app, so please arrive early on your first day to leave the guards enough time to help you. You must wear an identifying badge at all times while on campus. The school’s neighborhood agreement prohibits anyone associated with Burke’s from parking on 32nd Avenue between El Camino del Mar and California Street. Please adhere strictly to this traffic compliance!
Meet your students on the Lower School Court (Blue Top Playground) or in the Campus Center (Lunch Room) on Rainy Days and take roll. If your class count is over or under, ask an after-school teacher to check on that student. Make sure that you have ALL your students before leaving the after-school group. The school’s staff can assist with finding students but it is your responsibility to take accurate attendance.
Keep your roster with you for EVERY class. It’s important you know exactly who is in your class at all times in case there is an emergency. Students should bring their backpacks to class with them.
End your class five minutes early or more (if needed) for students to clean up, put their shoes on, etc. The parents often keep tight schedules and waiting for late classes is unacceptable. Classrooms must be left how they were found.
Please bring the students getting picked up right after class to the front of the school (under pavilion next to main office). The school will do their best to provide information on whether or not students will be attending Tree House after their class. When in doubt, bring the students outside the Front Office.
Outside the front office, please help the school by listening out for the students’ names so that they may be put in cars. If the school is understaffed, you may be asked to assist with putting students in cars. Once your students are all gone, you may leave campus!
Keep in mind that students need to be attended by an adult at all times! The school’s strong preference is to have no make-up classes at the end of the session. Family's schedules are incredibly busy and tightly packed, leaving little room for unplanned classes. This means, you need to be there for each one of your agreed upon class dates. In the case of an emergency, it is acceptable to have a substitute teacher come in your place who has the appropriate paperwork turned in. If you think you will miss class for any reason, it is a good idea to have a substitute prepared with this paper work ahead of time.
