I pretty much answered in the first one. I gotta work on my classroom management in a teaching role. Sports are so easy

I need to be better about grabbing their attention at the beginning. They were kind of wild and out of control the whole time. I realize I’m used to doing more active activities with kids. My classroom management is good if I’m doing an activity, but in a teaching role, it’s a big adjustment. Also, my stuff didn’t take nearly as long as I thought it would so I had to pivot and play Simon says which wasn’t ideal with a rowdy group that wasn’t really listening well in the first place

I probably over shared the last time and answered this. I feel I fought through the chaos well. I need to be more ready next time with teacher tools and command the room a little better. I think I did a good job making connections with a lot of kids though. I had a lot of fun

It was chaotic right away. The guy was kind of late getting the kids in place. They were all different ages and very all over the place. 123 eyes on me didn’t work. I didn’t have any outside source to talk to so I decided not to power struggle. I went with Simon says and a few kids wanted to test me. One kid decided to do the opposite and a few others weren’t giving any effort. Again I decided to focus on the ones who were interested. I asked everyone to say their name and how long they’ve been playing. Once I realized everyone had some experience I had them list all the pieces and I wrote what they said on the board. This got some excitement. I rode the momentum. Some other kid had brought his own board and had started setting up so I decided not to worry about them. It was two boys who seemed a little older so I decided not to force group cohesion. I got a combined game of 3 on 3 going that went really well. They brought in a first grade girl late. She had never played. I tried to get her in the mix but she told me she was uncomfortable so I got her going in a game with an experienced girl. She seemed mature so I was hoping she’d take it easy on her and teach. Luckily I stuck around because that was not the case. I was able to walk her through some stuff. She seemed to have a little bit of fun. I ended up getting caught up with another kid who started looking around the room for stuff to play with. When I came back, 3 kids had joined the other team and she was crying. I calmed her down and played a game with her. Nobody told me I had to take them somewhere at 4:35 so I had them all clean up and since a few had been picked up so i figured the rest would within minutes. 5 minutes later there was chaos I brought it together by letting them take turns for Simon says. Finally at like 4:50 someone came apologized and grabbed them. All in all, pretty chaotic so I think a great first day to get my feet wet. As tough as it was, I had a lot of fun
