Today went fine. As far as most of the students, I still have to kind of redirects. Am constantly having students expressed how he's calling them names doing things, that's kind of disrupting class. And also slight bullying on his. In the thing about that though is his mom came. As we were kind of hitting the class, and she was asking how Sam was doing and I just said, well Sam has been constantly having to be redirected. As far as Behavior, you know, bullying other kids being places where he shouldn't be not paying attention talking while I'm talking and things like that. Usually, what I'll do is I'll just give him something to do but it still has become a problem with him in the other students, as far as calling them out, their names and going. So we're going to try Redirecting in a different way and I express that we don't do any bullying in the class and nobody likes a bully things like that. And also the fact that out, his parent knows that he has been creating a challenge as far as his behavior. Other than that, all the students did well class went, well, the pancakes came out great, the enjoy them. And even with him slip substitution of the cornmeal, they came out very good. The kids really enjoy Them and they would like to have the recipe so that they can make pancakes in the morning. Also, some of the parents did show up and I did Express how they, like the idea of them pink cooking and that now that, you know, the are thanking me for giving them the opportunity. So, I went really well today for the students and me.

Today we made mini pancakes. So we start out with a box mix, but it just didn't seem like it was fresh. I don't know. Something, it can have ants in it and I don't know, it's just something that probably happened with it's sitting on the counter after it rained. Sometimes, there's ants. So we decided to start that. Luckily I did have some cornmeal Jiffy corn meal, So we switched to Jiffy corn meal, or we can call the corn cakes, which is made just like pancakes. We just went by the recipe, that was on the box for the original pancake mix. And each student was given an opportunity to measure out the ingredients who one student at a time selected parts of the recipe to Measure. And then some of the students did chop up the bananas. For toppings. We discussed the history of Pancakes where they came from. How they originated. Also talked about the different ways that you could come top. Put toppings on the pancakes talked about the setting as far as how to set the griddle for preparing the pancakes temperature and also how to Know, when to flip the pancake. And then after that, the did all assemble their pancakes from the desired pancakes that they liked as far as toppings.

Today the class went, well I'm learning the new students and you know their interest in cooking and what they provide to prepare and future talk about some of the recipes that we might explore further on in the cooking class but it went good. We do have a little bit of, you know, trying to keep Sam. One of the students who have had before focused He does tend to interrupt or talk during the class and things like that but it was handled we just kind of had a talk and, you know, the expectations of the class and you know how important it is to pay attention so that we could get the full class time without interrupting.

Today we made mini pizzas using biscuits as the do. So the first step was prepping the biscuits to create a pizza dough. So each student was given a biscuit that which they flattened using a rolling pin to the size of thinness of a pizza. And after that, we topped the pizza with a Lil Bit of olive oil. Stick them in the oven for about 5 minutes, then teaching the students that, that was a way to get the dough to sit better for the sauce, the pizza sauce, we created, but I scratch we use tomato sauce. Each student was given a chance to add the ingredients, such as basil, Italian dressing onion, garlic and seasoning salt, once the pizza. Word done as far as the five minutes of baking time just to sit. The do you pull the dough out of the oven? The students all got a chance to prep and cut up the tomatoes or olives and cheese and pepperoni that they would put us toppings on the pizza. Once they did arrange, all the pizza toppings, we put the pizza in the oven. We had a discussion about different ways to make pizza has to They would try it at home, some have done pizzas before. So talked about the differences and how we prepare the pizza today, and as opposed to how they done it in the past,

It's the new students, very good group. They've seemed very interested in the class, good listeners, my prior students. They also did a pretty good job, you know, handling some of the Parts of the recipe that, you know, helping the newer students with. So yeah, went good for me as a class they were engaged. They seem to really enjoy it and they also enjoyed the cookies.

so today the students that were new when I went over some of the things that we do, this starts to class like washing hands first, and then after that, You know, like Gavin around the tables looking at what kind of ingredients what the recipe would call for. They also went over a different measuring cups and measuring spoons. Learning the difference between tablespoons and teaspoons, this is more for the newer students and so I had the students who were already with me, read through the read out loud, the recipe and then each student was part of adding the ingredients Audience, to complete the recipe. And then after that, while the cookies were baking, we did talk about what the future of classes would be how we select recipes. I will continue to do more recipes and then eventually we'll get into challenges that they seemed to enjoy these. The first group kids did and then while the last 15 minutes of baking the kids watch Junior Chef. They like that show kind of helps them. Especially one of the new students. She's never seen the show before he really enjoyed it. She said, she's going to start watching it and that was about it.

As they were all participating very well. They've really grown from the days of the beginning, even the younger students are a lot more engaged and more willing to listen and participate and so it was really good. Good interaction, good turnout. Everybody's dish came out, great. Even though some of them didn't like, the flavor that much, it was still good for them to try something different than there. I used to and they were open to that so I was really happy about that.

Okay. So today we did a recipe that was submitted by a Miranda we talked about the different cultures because it was a Japanese rice which was used with green tea. This participants also did their selection of what they would top the rice off with some of you did The Chopping of the vegetables, selecting the different seasonings, and also learning how to balance. Since the flavor it was too sweet. How to add heat to balance the flavor out. Also, they learned how to cook rice, you know, the measurements proportions, were different servings for Rice. Also, the were able to share with each other, their experience of what the race. Tastes like different from the culture in which they are used to.

For me, everything went great today. As the class, the students were very engaged. Now that we have been together for a while now, they are very much more open to asking questions about certain things. They've learned over there over the time they've been with us and then also, Some of them are watching cooking shows now they do like Junior Chef. So they now feel like they can relate to some of the wording and some of the techniques that they've been seeing on the cooking show. So yeah, went great and everything was good, no issues, no problems.

And the students like those kind of challenges where we do a challenge on two recipes. So one was sweet. When was Savory on the shish kabobs, we learn the history of where it's just grab started and that they're usually cooked on an open flame. Pretty much. That's how they got the name, but they could also be baked. So the students selected from the vegetables that were available to arrange their own. Recipe. Each one had their own individual way of arranging, the shish kebabs, and also seasonings that they could us add-on for flavor and then they could also create a dipping sauce, which I demonstrated how that could be done using hummus and other things like soy sauce, hummus mixing other ingredients, the spices. And so those are I made a dipping sauce for her Savory. No one else was interested for those but then Sam made a dipping sauce for his sweet shish kebab. So he made his own recipe with that and each student was able to try and Sample it and give him suggestions on what would make it better. They learn to how, you know, cutting up the fruit and how you do it in bite-sized pieces. And then Avery, who is the youngest return? I haven't seen him in a while. He's never ever heard of a shish kebab. So this was something new for him. Yeah and that's what we did today.

The students were very much engaged, they really do. Enjoy the challenges of creating their own recipes. Some of the students who usually have more of a challenge of staying focused. We're very focused today because they were more engaged with creating their recipe. The only problem with today is far as my class, I left my phone and I came back to look for it. I couldn't find it. So, I Left my phone. I did find it. It was in the garage but I didn't want to be late. So I didn't have a phone today. So there were no photos taken today for this to parents unfortunately.

Today and then clicking players, we decided to break up into partners and do a smoothie challenge. So the students first got a chance to look at the basics to a smoothie. What was needed? Like the milk and non-dairy milks and also yogurt Then we separated everything as far as spices pumpkin spice, cinnamon cloves, allspice things that you could use to enhance the flavor this smoothie. Then we have the wet ingredients such as pumpkin spice liquid, no it extract orange juice and then there was fruits, bananas strawberries apples and Then we separated the toppings which were pumpkin seeds and dark chocolate. So each student created their own smoothie recipe for their partner to try to taste test and then they switch and the other person comes up with their smoothies recipe for the other partner to taste test.
