About Jackson

Coach Jackson has over a decade of experience coaching and working with kids. His philosophy is that exploration and play through games and physical activities is one of the most basic and powerful ways to learn.

He's worked closely with children as an elementary Physical Education teacer; after school sports and programming (football, chess, wrestling, soccer, and general games); coaching extracurriculars like soccer and tee-ball; and early on in his career in a daycare setting. Many Bay Area kids have some of their first sports experiences with Coach Jackson, and his goal is to always bring the same appreciation for form and technique, enthusiasm for the game, working together while having fun to every learner!

Jackson is vaccinated against COVID-19.

I felt like today's class went really well. I really like the idea of bringing a tub of water for the kids to explore the idea of density. I feel like the lesson plan, Kind of lost, I got lost on the lesson, plan a little bit, and I could have focused more on keywords, like I did last class, but the kids had a lot of fun. I also feel like it might be a better idea to bring. Something other than paper for them to try to make boats with. I feel like maybe Play-Doh or clay, I just don't want anything too messy, we made boats and we basically guest which items would sink and which items would float and they were surprised by some of the items. And I think it was good. I think they had fun and I think they learned and there was definitely a lot of exploring and Hands-On stuff, which Montessori schools, really love. So yeah. All well,

So today we discussed what atoms are talking about how small, they are, how tiny they are and how atoms make up everything and I challenged them to find something that's made of atoms. And then we went to the different states of matter and we used our bodies to talk about solids, don't move. And so we became a solid with our body by Ending still either curling up into a ball or freezing in place and that's what a solid is. And then we used our bodies to be a liquid, which is where we wiggle our arms around and sort of slosh around. I use a bottle that was partially full of water to talk about what liquids are. I have them call and repeat back liquids. And then we used Our breath to understand gas. And I thought the term gas was very funny, which I expected, and we blew on our hands, and I asked them, why can they feel the air? And the answer is, because it's made of atoms to. And so we became gas with our body by running around and blowing and I turned it into a game. Saying. Okay now act like a liquid and they move their arms around and flow into different parts of the area and then turned into a gas and they blow and then we ended with bubbles and they got to blow bubbles and my assistant sunny and I blew Bubbles. And then we talked about how a bubble is gas in the middle, but liquid on the outside, but it doesn't change like a solid and yeah, I think we had fun.
