Today, the teacher went really well, I don't know if it was because I was out for a week but I bake I was able to gather their attention much better at the start. I definitely I used my voice to do so in, you know, in a friendly way but I was able to get their attention. We also set up the desks differently, we set it up in a long row and I walked around the three desks in a row versus the three scattered desks. I might try that again. And yeah the kids. Were way less disruptive and getting up. And, you know, yelling for my attention, they were way more Cooperative. So, that was an interesting observation. I don't know if it was the activity or the seating arrangement or the Just way I conducted the intro and I we had to Pace ourselves because I was ironing their fuse beads at the end. So I definitely stuck to a somewhat strict lesson plan as far as timing is concerned.

Hi, this is Jason. I might be submitting this twice but today it's halfway through my color pop art series with the TK through first graders I brought beads for and pipe cleaners for bracelets and safety pins for friendship pins. And I recommended, they make one for themselves and then one for their neighbor and we went over the colors of the rainbow roygbiv. I have colors and I just showed them how they're always in this order and this is how you can make good complementary colors. Reminding of our first lesson in this series and additionally I had my iron and we did fuse beads, some kids did some more abstract stuff and others. Did some really cool scenic's. And animals where they actually did complementary colors near each other. I have really beautiful photos of a couple examples to send.

Hey, this is Jason my first class back after a sub break of a week. I said this is a class. We're going to focus on our imaginations, more than materials be cut, and we did haikus and poetry. I brought some short examples by Emily Dickinson and Maya, Violet wild that were nature, poems and talk. it's about how they evoke their emotions through comparisons to Nature and people and I then I wrote several maybe like five haikus as examples and then I taught them the I told him about haikus what it meant and the 575 pattern and how it's a fun challenge to fit in everything you want to say within that succinct poem structure and Then we went out into nature of the up, the hill, and I had a jar of prompt words to get them started. So different words, you know, wind Cloud tree, various nature seasons snowberries, nature terms to prompt ideas, but by no means that they have to stick to that. But yeah, they had a good time sticking with the formula 575. I saw them a couple of the kids were working together and Other kids I could see them like counting on their fingers so super cute and they had a really good time with it and at the end they all shared their poetry on the step set a here at the Burke school. So they had a little like poetry. Poetry poetry slam is really fun.

Today went well for me as a teacher. I had a helper today named Elias and he was great super helpful. A lot of times they'll you know, they'll participate in also help with the kids. Yep. The one thing I noticed from this week that was a little different is at this school, I am not responsible for the attendance or the dismissal and they'll get a call on the walkie. Taki that a suit certain student is ready for pickup and I can't always like notice or pay attention to that. So at one point I realized my class had dwindled and I was like, where did everybody go? And then it turned out. Some kids were some kids are dismissed earlier than the class ends and that is wasn't completely aware that, that was the case. Yes, but that would be something good to know. Like if you know from my understanding my class is 425 and now it's 4:15 2515. But the doors open and some of the kids wander out and they want her out because their parents are here, but I'm not always super aware that that's happening. So I guess I was the only thing for me as a teacher today,

Hi. This is Jason my color pop art class at Sutro Elementary class for second day of pixel art. I numbered the graph paper and used larger squares for them and a lot of the kids that had a lot of trouble last week. Really, really caught on this time. One of the students, Taped pages together so he can make a bigger grid. So I think he's ready to go to the smaller grids and and so next week will be the final class in the pixel pixel exploration that kids seem to really like, and that's, they're going to create their own emotional, emotion faces like emoji faces.

Today for me, as a teacher was super smooth. We started in the garden. We had our discussion. I asked them you know if they remembered what I had told them about the what bees are being a pollinator and ask them to add a bead of their drawings. So I gave showed examples of how to draw simple bees and msj was super helpful with a couple. Extra pairs of Scissors because I had a limited amount and some glue sticks, and I have some photo examples but overall it was a great class. I was able to talk with one of the students that kind of froze up with the project. So I was able to talk to her about what we were doing first and give her a little extra attention and encouraged her, you know, I watch for. She was doing and encouraged her to continue. In you doing, you know, certain colors, that look nice together and showed her examples on my iPad of possibilities of how her art come out. So yeah, it was super smooth class.

Hi, this is Jason week for at the nurture nature Bay Breeze, explorers class we focused on flower collages today we started with a discussion on bees and the importance of bees that their pollinators and the contribute contribute to a third of the food we eat and I gave examples of how they come into the food chain and that they are kind of Disappearing. So they're important. Aunt for conservative reasons are for the conservation of bees and then we moved into. I gave showed examples of collages abstract and more literal flower collages and it was hugely successful class. They had a really fun time made some beautiful stuff which I actually they were okay with me getting pictures of today. So overall it was, you know, it was a very successful fun class, on a beautiful day. We did not go out exploring, because I didn't think we'd be able to find flowers because I've been around this area for the last three weeks. Um, so I brought a bouquet of flowers and I just helped distribute pedals as well as construction paper. I cut out petal shapes and also they I expressed that we're going to plan our project and anything they needed help with shape-wise. I was able to help cut

Class today is a teacher went pretty good. I felt like I had control of getting their attention. I emphasize that we're going to respect each other's. You know when each other are speaking, we're going to respect when other students are asking me for help. We're going to wait our turn. From our workstations. And, you know, tap me or tug on me or put their work in my in front of my face we're going to take our time and be patient and what you know one kid said, be patient. I like yes. Thank you very much Chandler. We need to be patient. I'm going to get around to helping each and every one of you. Again, the YMCA Sutro staff member Miss Maria she basically Ali looks over the class while I do the our class, but she, you know, was willing to help because she works with these kids every single day, have some kids. Again, I'm going to say Pre-K is real young for. I don't even know what kind of art lesson to to introduce that isn't. I think that I just have to simplify things. Going forward with this group and we did have a kid that was drawing all over everything. And you know, I said they Quinn, we don't draw on the school, we're not going to draw the school and I didn't feel particularly comfortable, you know, being 2-disc disciplinary but the YMCA staff did a little bit so they were helpful in that regard but it's good kid. I just and they had him help clean at the end and then we all clean up the space.

Hi, this is Jason third class of color pop art series. We did the pixel art on graph paper. I had a quarter inch graph paper, and then at the last minute, I realized, I better get a half inch graph paper for this age group and much simpler examples than I did in my previous pixel classes. The first time, I really tried it. Last spring. But yeah I think overall presented a good. Cadence and Pace with talk to them about color on screen versus color that we discussed class one like RG, sorry, primary colors, red, yellow, blue. And then I talked about mixing colors on screen like really briefly and then went into grabbing our markers and I made a grid. On the dry erase board to show a very simple example of a pumpkin that they were going to make, so we're all going to work on the same thing. Some kids graphs this grid, well, numbering the grid, some kids did not and I think I actually learned some of these kids are pre k KT, K. So this is really like a finger painting class that I'm starting to Alyssa about it. Presenting may be too complicated ideas, but we managed Through it. I helped them number. And what I learned is I'm going to number the paper myself for next time and otherwise some kids went on to the second project and some kids stayed on the pumpkin. But overall they had something fun to take home. So wise

Hi, this is Jason class. 3 of nurture nature, / Bay Breeze. Explorers went really well. It was the pet rock, creating class. We went up toward the golf course their Lands End again. One thing to note it's like the school requested a nature exploration class, but And they do have beautiful area there but it's pretty limited for what we can like find. So I did have a plan B, I collected my own smooth rocks, the students didn't find any rocks up on the trail that were good for our project, then we made it back and as I submitted on my text, I purchased like the most modest paint pens. Because paint, you know, there's really no facility or place and I found that the kids just make a real big mess with the amount of time we have for paint. So, anyway, they shared the pens. I had them, pick out a rock, you know, without looking like, just feel for the rock. Like, feel pick the one that feels good for you and I had bags of small medium and a few Large. Some kids made some awesome stuff. I did ask, hey, I would love to get a group photo. Some kids were like, yeah. And the morning majority of them were like, no. So like okay, but yeah, they're super cute and they had a really fun time with it. My phone keeps locking up on my way over. I thought oh I should have brought some like cut paper to make additional like Tails or wings or stuff. But really there wasn't any time they just decorated them with art and the googly eyes and brought him home.

Class the day today as a teacher went well miss Maria was my helper with the YMCA. So she helped keep the kids paying attention and engaged because I basically have three tables of six or seven. I have about 18 kids so it's kind of it's really hard to keep that ages attention for more than 3 seconds. And so she helped a lot there. R. And I had my materials ready set up on one side of the room, the pace of the class went well and you know allows they just get up out of their chair and come and basically tug on my shirt or tap me and the, you know, they all I help them draw. A help them cut and I just try and keep it, keep them in an order and, you know, ask as the employee. I am speaking with this other friend classmate of yours. I'll be with you in a moment. Yeah. That's the big challenge with this class. They're very Lively and they all want attention and help at the same time. So it's kind of like designating who I'm going to get to next. But overall that goes well it's just it just it's fast-paced.

Hi, this is Jason my second color pop art series with The Kindergartners and first-graders was it was a little challenging. I did an example on my iPad of how we would cut out paper and make a Scenic starting with a piece of paper that might be our dark background and then layers getting lighter. And then the foreground simple shapes like hills and triangles for trees and you know, kind of like a cutout out choppy Circle for the Sun and I emphasize how that can make it look unique, but I think it was a little difficult to some kids, grasped it. But definitely I'm learning that the kindergarteners are huge difference between first graders. So looking forward to next week with the graph paper and back to drawing as opposed to cutting paper and glue and You know, a little bit of a more complicated and Messier class. So the drawing will be good and it'll it'll be good to prepare. I wish I had kind of made a physical example versus my iPad example where I turned on layers and turned off layers, to show them how it would work. So yeah, they'll be good for next time to just have like a real tangible. Example of what they're going to make.

The teacher went great, like I said, they were engaged, I asked them questions. And, you know, I asked like what are five things trees are important for at the end of the class and they remembered what we discussed. So that was fun. And then when we went out, physically went out and walked around the neighborhood, I was able to, you know, keep them together able to ask How many did each student collect so far? And some students had collected, you know, eight or nine leaves. And some of the Shire kids, maybe only had two. So I suggest they help each other, you know, fill their envelopes. So everybody has about eight or nine leaves from the project and they were super Cooperative with that. And then once we were back, It went great just Distributing different colors for them to use materials that I had already prepared on boards for them to do the rubbings and they all got right into it. Like I didn't, you know, I didn't know how well it was going to work but it was cool to see like the details that they had come out of their drawings. And yeah, and then we just ended with a recap of what we discussed about. The importance of trees and you know, five reasons they're important for wildlife. They look nice on the landscape oxygen cooling the planet and providing providing things that we have to take care of how we industrialize those Lands is good.

Hey, this is teacher Jason a beautiful day at Del, Mar Burke Today class to we did leaf. Rubbings, leaf reliefs, full attendance. Kids are happy to see me. They all remembered me. I surprisingly remembered all their names because that's always tough to learn them all. But started out with a little intro about ecosystem, my trees are important. Aunt leaves are important oxygen filtering. The planet. Keep me a cool carbon dioxide and how we also need to use trees and wood and paper, you know, their first and second graders, but they knew you know, what trees are used for. And then we talked about the best practices for cutting down trees and not to clear cut them and it pretty simple discussion about that. Then we went Went out on a walk and kind of came up with this idea that they're like, the caterpillar group walking through the neighborhood with Miss J, kind of chaperoning from the school. So I led the front, she led the back, we they had they supplied us with envelopes so the kids could pick up leaves. So I helped them find like nice leaves for our project. By the time we got back, we had only about 35 40 minutes left. So I skipped the monochrome Leaf, rubbing and went straight into just color and it just had a fun time doing color. And I encouraged color blocking and getting a little more abstract as they went through each of their leaves. And yeah, our pretty much flew by. It was really fun. I kind of hinted at our next week, pet rock collecting. So they're excited about that, too.

Hi. This is Jason just getting out of the first lesson of the color pop art series went really well, had about 18 kids. A couple kids were at a birthday party so I think I have 20 total, the school provided markers. And I did a color theory, color wheel complementary color introduction showed examples of that in cartoon characters, they recognize and Talks about what what emotions colors evoke for us and how sports teams, use those color combinations and then we got to drawing and everybody did a beautiful landscapes and you know, the I think I brought this up before, but the difference between a kindergartener and a first grader is tremendous, I'm learning more and more. Like how much they And like really grasp of what the lesson is. But you know, we all had fun and I encourage the, the different drawings and characters they developed, I had asked them, you know what their favorite color was what their favorite animal was and one of the students volunteered their favorite animal and then their favorite monster and I was like, okay I'm inspired by Lunas idea. Let's let's add a favorite monster and then we can combine them. Them in artwork overall was, it was just it was a fun class. They enjoyed, I complimented and encouraged. What? Each student brought to their artwork. Some of them, you know, filled in colors. Some of them were very imaginative with their characters and they asked me to add little pencil drawings to their drawings, that they could trace over. So that was fun too. So overall we had a lot of fun and Next week, we'll do collage stuff and move into a new way of working with color, and I gave them a preview of the upcoming lessons and they were stoked on those two.
