Class went very well. The students were very excited to start this project and they were all very efficient with painting and starting new projects and cleaning up.

Today in class, the students painted pumpkins. I gave them the option of doing modge podge dried flower pumpkins or painting them and most of them chose to paint. They each had two pumpkins and if they finished they had the option of starting a new art project that we’ll continue next time.

Class went well. The kids are just always in a rush to go back to their other afterschool programs after they’ve completed making their snack, but I try to keep them occupied with books and talking about what next weeks options are.

Today the kids talked about street snacks from our cultures and we made Mexican street corn.

Class was pretty hard today for me. It’s a little hard to get all their attention and have to split them up and repeat myself pretty often.

Today’s class was a little hectic. This age group has a very hard time focusing. I have to separate a lot of students from eachother and ask for their attention quite a lot. Today in class we talked about where we’re from and if we have any street snacks specific to our background. We then made Mexican street corn.

Class went well. The kids get really into writing in their journals at the beginning of class so I definitely have to leave a good chunk of time for them to do that.

Today in class the kids drew and wrote updates on their plants in their gardening journals and some students shared what they wrote in their journals. We did a short video on photosynthesis and took a quiz after. Then we talked about plants that are native to San Francisco and they were able to explore the garden after.

Class went well today. One of the students was not interested in painting and so she started to become a distraction and so I tried to find another activity for her to do. I got her to calm down a bit and look through an art book from the library and see if she could find any interesting activities for future classes.

Today I asked the kids to use their imagination and create a monster in their heads and they had multiple art mediums available to create it. They had watercolor, markers, felt, construction paper. They also were able to paint freely after.

Class went well, kids are pretty energetic so the most challenging thing is getting their attention and getting them to focus but still went well.

Today the kids and I played a guessing game of different fruits that I put in a slideshow. Then we went over knife safety and cut up all our fruits for the fruit salad.

Class went really well, everyone was interested in the topic and we used up the whole hour talking and searching. Students are really interested and have a background in gardening at home.

Today the students and I looked at the progress of the plants that they planted in week 1. They got to see how their marigolds and basil are doing after 2 weeks. They wrote and drew and talked about the progress in their nature journals and some of the students presented their journal to the class. Then we did a garden scavenger hunt and the kids broke off into groups to finish their scavenger hunt. We ended the class with coloring in the scavenger hunt and looking at some library books

Class went well today everyone was drawing in their notebooks and happy to see the progress their plants had made and were very excited to search around the garden to find all the things on the scavenger hunt

Today in class I brought the plants the students planted in the first week of class so they could see their progress and write about it and draw it in their nature journals. Then the kids walked around the garden and completed a garden scavenger hunt.
