About Karen

Karen is a Production Designer who works on short films, music videos, and ads to create sets that feel natural while also maintaining an element of wonder and fun. She works as a freelance painter and specializes in still life and portrait painting. She has been passionate about the arts for the entirety of her life, and is excited to bring this love to every one of her Grasshopper experiences for kids!

Karen has worked with children for over 6 years, including as a caregiver, nanny, tutor, and softball coach. She is CPR and First Aid certified, and vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19.

Fine Arts Break Week Camp

Animals Adventure Series

Each week, children will have the opportunity to explore the animal kingdom and deep dive into a different mammal, bird, fish, or insect. Through interactive activities, crafts, and games, kids will get to know about animals and their habitats, their prey and predators, as well as how to protect the planet we all share, gaining a better understanding of conservation.

Skateboard Art Party!

Create custom graphics and art on skateboards to showcase kids' unique taste and style! Kids will sketch their designs and ideas as they work up a cool concept, and ultimately create their works of art on blank skateboards using sharpies and/or paint 🛹

Budding artists will celebrate creativity during this Fine Art learning series for kids. They'll learn several different painting techniques, explore works by famous artists and attempt to reproduce various artistic styles, do self-portraiture that expresses who they uniquely are, create their very own still lifes, and much more that will all become part of a mini art exhibition at the end of this art-filled series.

Famous Artists One-Time Experience

Book a One-Time art experience for your child to explore and create projects based on famous artists, like Van Gogh, Picasso, and Matisse, as well as female and BIPOC artists. Let them learn about the art world and appreciate its creators.

Learn to Play Baseball and Softball!

Learn the fundamentals of the baseball and softball with Coach Karen in this experience that reinforces getting outdoors and active, and learning great teamwork. Depending on age and skill level, children will get to know the equipment (balls, bats, gloves, bases, etc.), practice hitting and fielding balls, and play a game of baseball or softball! Great for groups, and kids wanting to get started with or improve their skills on the field and at bat.

Still Life Painting with a Production Designer

This experience will teach children about production design and still life painting, and they'll learn directly from an actual Set and Production Designer! They will learn how to paint using several painting techniques, and create their very own paintings that will become part of a mini art exhibition. 🎨
